Club Super Challenge News

Bronze South

Our winning Super Challenge Bronze South  team with the four markers Leanne Michelsen, Grant Fisher, Stephen Bougourd and Tommy Rushton, and umpire Bobby Wadsworth after the game.
We were all on a HIGH after winning and successfully hosting super challenge teams at Hawthorn.

On days and nights like these I always ask around about our food, greens, and how the day or night went for the opposition’s players. Many positive comments on the sausage sizzle “no 🔥 burnt ones) and the onions were great, also several people commented on how good our barman was on the night. Of course as usual there was heaps of praise for the greens.
So thanks again you guys for making it a great night for the Hawthorn Bowling Club “and myself”
Made my job a lot easier on the night.
PS special thank you to Marilyn for organising the bar and cooks and food you are a true champion on and off the green because I’m not good at that.
Cheers, Jeff Lawton

Silver

On a balmy night, in near perfect conditions at Walkerville, Hawthorn Silver made it 2 from 2 with a win over Toorak – Burnside.  Initially the greens were very quick, but gradually slowed as the evening cooled. The Pairs led by Christine Keller and Triples led by Dennis Crawley established dominant leads as the match progressed. Meanwhile the Fours with Steve Moloney at the helm, waited until 3 ends remained before taking the lead. In the Singles Col Watkins again had a hard fought match and finally succumbed after the score reached 20 all.
